Mitochondrial DNA

http://www.forensicmag.com/articles.asp?pid=271

Over the past few years, many cold cases have been re opened in the hopes of discovering new DNA ideals and advancements will help further investigation. Cold hits are made when nuclear DNA profiles of semen, blood, or saliva crime scene samples are linked to convicted felon DNA profiles that are stored in the national DNA database (CODIS).

I thought this post was interesting because it talked about mitochondrial DNA. After taking AP Biology and after learning about the importance of DNA in forensic science, I found this post very relevant. Our last test was on DNA, including the importance of mitochondrial DNA. The post is well-written, as well, and easy to understand. The author used simple words.
To improve, perhaps the author could have made the post a little longer. Also, maybe the author could have quoted some experts.
I never knew how many cold cases were reopened.

This was a short article but it explained exactly what mitochondrial DNA was. It was simple and easy to understand although you could have gone into more detail. Overall it was well done.
