Taylor, Michelle. “DNA DOE Project Helps Id John Wayne Gacy Victim.” Forensic®, Forensics Magazine, 27 Oct. 2021, www.forensicmag.com/580471-DNA-Doe-Project-Helps-ID-John-Wayne-Gacy-Victim/.

This was a well written review of the article. I think that they did a good job summarizing the main points of the article, describing who the victim was, who the killer was, and how the DDP project was able to identify the victim and give him the respect he deserved in death. In addition to this, they did a good job of explaining the impact of this article on forensic science as a whole. They describe how the use of these new tools allows for the victims of serial killers to obtain the dignity of knowing their names, and how new forensic methods can be applied to old cases to yield results previously unattainable. Finally, I liked how quotes from experts were used in the review, as they helped add to the accountability of the reviewer. The quotes also served to amplify the points that she made during her relevance paragraph.

Although the review was very well written, there were still some minor flaws. One of these was that the actual usage of the DDP project was not really discussed. It was brought up as an important topic, and then immediately topics were switched. In addition to this, I think that the second criticism of the article is not really necessary. The reviewer states that they wished the article could include the next steps in identifying the rest of the victims, but this was not really a topic of the article, so I think that wishing the article to give this information is a bit much.

Overall, this was a very well written review. I learned about the importance of applying new forensic methods to older cases in order to bring people to justice. I chose this article because of the name John Wayne Gacy, as I remembered him being mentioned in class and wanted to read about him. After reading this review, I now realize how useful new forensic methods are when it comes to previously unsolved cases, as before I never considered the possibility of revisiting closed cases with new approaches.

This article was about John Wayne Gacy, who has been identified 44 years after he was murdered with the assistance of genetic genealogy. main points of the article, describing who the victim was, who the killer was, and how the DDP project was able to identify the victim and give him the respect he deserved in death. They describe how the use of these new tools allows for the victims of serial killers to obtain the dignity of knowing their names, and how new forensic methods can be applied to old cases to yield results previously unattainable.
There is information presented in the article that affects the study, development, and practice of forensic science. They describe how the use of these new tools allows for the victims of serial killers to obtain the dignity of knowing their names. This affects a new method being used in forensic science. Also how new forensic methods can be applied to old cases to yield results previously unattainable. This is really effective because there are new methods being used to help the development and improvement of forensic science.
Even though this was a good article, there are also some critiques that I have about this article. First being that there needs to be some more background information about the victim. Also, the actual usage of the DDP project was not really discussed. Last, I feel like there needs to be more information on the case as a whole so that us as the reader get a good understanding of the situation.
