Personal micro biomes shown to contain unique 'fingerprints'
A new study at the Harvard school of public health has shown that human beings carry in and on their bodies a “micro biome” with the potential to identify individuals like a fingerprint,  A micro biome is the ecological community of symbiotic, and pathogenic microorganisms that share our body space. scientists demonstrated that personal micro biomes have enough features that it is possible to distinguish different individuals over time using a research study population of hundreds of people, this study which is also the first to show that using micro biomes is a possible way of recording evidence, also suggests that human beings have surprisingly unique microbial inhabitants.
Relevance
The study opens the door to connecting human micro biome samples between databases, which has the potential to expose sensitive subject information, for example, a sexually-transmitted infection, detectable from the micro biome sample itself.
this study is very important because it can help scientists distinguish criminals in society even better than a fingerprint test which is now a old means of acquiring information.

You did a good job describing what a “microbiome” is because it informed me about it while making it clear why it’s so significant. I also liked that you brought up the possible issues with this new research since it broadened our understanding of the topic.
I think that you could have written more about what the “microbiomes” will be able to help with and what information you can get from them. I also think that you should’ve emphasized more how revolutionary this is to the forensic community since this offers a new way of identifying victims and suspects.
It surprised me that these “microbiomes” can be detected in so many places, both inside and outside the body. I thought that this article was extremely interesting because this is completely revolutionary to identification processes. Not only was it cool because it’ll help forensic scientists when conducting tests but I also just found it very interesting that we all have unique “micro biomes”.

This review, overall, was written on a very interesting topic. There were three things that were generally well presented. First, the summary of the article was brief, which made it much easier to understand. Second, the fact that scientific terminology was defined and explained helped me understand the context of the article and what was actually being tested. Third, it was nice that Jack incorporated a sentence or two about why this is important to the entire world in general and how this could help science in the future. There are two suggestions that could have been made to make the review better. First, there were a couple of grammatical errors that stood out. Also, it would have been better if Jack described the whole process on their personal microbiomes are used and an example of when they were specifically used would have been beneficial. I found it interesting that these microbiomes are very useful so much so that they are like fingerprints.

Jack did a good job a selecting a unique and interesting article. His description of microbiomes was well done. He talked about how these biomes can be a huge breakthrough in forensics because they can function in a similar way to fingerprints. He also extended the article in his significance passage. He talked about how it could affect the use of the fingerprint and that this signifies a movement towards the future which seemed like a good point.
I think Jack did not really include enough information and didn’t really summarize the article as a whole. I think it just needed some more detail included in the summary. Had he used some more information about the research associated with the biome discovery and some of the problems associated with the discovery especially in regards to privacy, then I think the summary would have gained a lot. There were also numerous grammatical / syntax issues that were a bit distracting; these errors made some parts a bit hard to understand.
It was overall a very interesting article that introduced an incredible discovery for Forensics. It shows the direction that science is moving in and likely means that we will see this discovery used in the near future.

In this review Jack talked about the new scientific research of the “micro biome” that humans carry on their bodies and how this trait could potentially help us to identify individuals like a fingerprint. Jack did a good job of talking about the study and describing micro biomes. Jack also did a good job of discussing the possibilities in this future study; it is possible to distinguish different individuals over time using a research study population of hundreds of people. Jack finally did a good job of talking about the relevance of the micro biome study and how this study opens the door to connecting human micro biome samples between databases.
I would have liked to see more information on this study as an entirety. This review was a bit short and could have been given more information about the history of the study as well as future predictions. I would also suggest to Jack to look back on his review and correct some grammar. In a review it’s important to be neat and precise, so editing it one final time could be helpful.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Jack’s review; it gave me interesting new knowledge about something that I had not known about before. I learned more about not only the human body, but I learned what micro biomes are and how we can potentially use them to our advantage in the future.

Jack Moonan reviewed a very interesting article about personal microbiomes containing unique fingerprints. He did a lot of strong things during his review. First off, he explained what a microbiome is in his review, i was very confused as to what that was until he filled me in. He said “A micro biome is the ecological community of symbiotic, and pathogenic micro organisms that share our body space.” Giving us a simple definition to help us understand the article better. Secondly his relevance part of the review made some very good points including, “The study opens the door to connecting human micro biome samples between databases, which has the potential to expose sensitive subject information, for example, a sexually-transmitted infection, detectable from the microbiome sample itself.” Sexually transmitted infections are a growing problem all around the world, and this study can truly help us. Lastly I liked how he tied the find back to our class and how it can help scientist solve a crime, “scientists distinguish criminals in society even better than a fingerprint test which is now a old means of acquiring information.” Helping the world become a better place by solving crimes by detecting fingerprints accurately.
Although the article review was very strong there were a few points Jack could brush up upon. The first being the amount of information that he gave us, I feel as if he did not give us the entire article it seemed like a few major points/detail were missing from the review, making it hard to follow at certain times. Another thing is the confusing wording that was brought about in the article. I was asking myself throughout the review “How does the microbiomes work?” there was zero description as to how the scientist use these things besides the small definition that was given in the beginning of the article.
I did learn that there are new ways to more accurately detect a criminal now due to the new studies of microbiomes. Hopefully we can keep researching these things so our world can become a safer place, also it will help out with sexually transmitted diseases. Overall a solid article.

You did a good job reviewing such an interesting topic. There were a few things that you did well in your review. The first thing was you did a good job keeping the summary short which allowed the reader to have a better understanding of the article.I also really liked how the terminology was defined and explained which allowed me to have a greater understanding of the article. Finally, I liked how you described how important it is to the field and the world. There are a couple of things that I would suggest you focus on for your next current event. You could fix up some of the grammar which would clean up your review. Also, I would have liked to read about the process of the microbiomes and how they are individually used in the fingerprinting process. I really enjoyed reading about how important microbiomes are to the fingerprinting process and how they can be used to further the field.
