DART - Direct Analysis in Real Time

http://www.brightsurf.com/news/headlines/31633/New_ink_sampling_technique_taking_a_bite_of_out_time.html

A new breakthrough has been made for forensic science when they made a new library in Iowa. They are building a library that has ink profiles that will make testing documents and inks a much easier process. A new process is being made called DART (Direct Analysis in Real Time). This helps find the composition of ink easier and faster than normal and produces an answer just as efficient as any other process in the past. The process includes pointing a hot steam of helium or nitrogen atoms at the ink. By doing this it evaporates the ink and the this evaporated ink goes through a mass spectrometer to find the composition of the ink easily. This process is more effective and quicker, but it also doesn't destroy the look of the evidence. It leaves the look of evidence but gets the results so the forensic studies can go on quicker and they wont get side tracked trying to find the composition of the ink.

this article provides more than enough information for the reader. i like how he explained new technique's. The fact he explains the new technique DART, show that the reader will get more information than intended. However i would have liked if he explained some of the older techniques that forensics scientist use. good work.

Three aspects of the review that were well presented were what the invention was, how it functions, and how it will affect forensic science. Two wasy in which the review could have been better are you could have given the name of the inventore of the dart system, and you could have given possible examples of cases where this could be used. One thing that really impressed me about this review was that evaporated ink can be used as evidence.

This article is very interesting because it shows the steps that forensic scientists are taking to improve the analysis of documents and inks. The tehnique called DART is a great example of what the new library in Iowa is using to keep up to speed with cases involving documents and ink. It will have a very positive effect on the future of forensics.

The article summary is very well written, and it gives the reader a good brief analysis about advancements in new technology in science. The article is is very interesting because it shows that the job of scientists is constantly made much easier because technology is advancing. Weezy, it would have been bettter if you explained what this new technology has in store for the future.

Nice job, Joe. I like the way that you explained what the program offers. Another good thing about this one is the way that you explained how the process works.

Again, great job.
