Review:
This article takes an in-depth view into the life of Charles Manson, the famous psychopath who was responsible for several killing sprees of celebrities in the 60’s and 70’s. Charles Manson was the leader of his “family” until he went to jail in 1972. His family was made up of primarily young women who would do psychedelic drugs and take part in wild orgies with Manson. The “family” would go to homes like the home of famous movie director, Roman Polanski, and kill five victims inside the home and then write “Death to Pigs” and “Healter Skelter” on the wall. Helter Skelter was the famous phrase that Manson and his “family” would use to describe the apocalyptic war that was coming between whites and blacks. While in prison for more than 40 years on multiple life sentences, he was denied the possibility of parole 12 times. He died of what is to be “natural causes” on Sunday November, 19th, 2017. While some today may not know who he is, Charles Manson is one of America’s most notorious psychopathic cult leaders and murders and was a true menace to society.
Charles Manson was responsible for nine murderous attacks and the death of seven innocent people. However, Manson did not think these people were innocent as he believed that they were guilty of causing “Helter Skelter”. The families today still mourn the lives that Manson and his “family” claimed in the 1970’s. Many came out after his death and expressed the happiness they felt when he died. While forensics was not used to prove that the Manson was responsible for these deaths (a family member of the Manson told a prison roommate that they committed the crimes), it still leaves a large impact on the forensics community and the crime community at large.

The article itself was very interesting and author Seth Augustine did a good job explaining to readers, like myself, who Charles Manson was and what crimes he committed. Seth also did a exemplary job explaining the logistics of Manson’s prison sentence and prison life as many people would be interested in knowing Manson was rejected 12 times from the parole board. However, the article could have used more meat in terms of explaining how this will affect society as a whole. I did other research to determine how it would affect society because there was no evidence of this in the article. To improve his writing he could have added some information about the trial of Charles Manson as I would have been interested in that as well as add some information about Charles Manson’s youth.

Griffin Garbarini submitted an excellent review of the article, “Charles Manson Dead 83” from Forensics Magazine. He provides a very detailed summary of the articles focus on the death of Charles Manson, “a psychopath who was responsible for several killing sprees of celebrities in the 60’s and 70’s.” Griffin also did a great job reciting the events Charles Manson was found guilty for, and the forensics involved in the investigations. Lastly, he provided a very elaborate response to the article including his opinions on the topic.
However there were two things I found a need for an improvement in Griffin’s review. While Griffin did quote certain phrases from the article, it would have been much more effective to quote larger pieces of information to show facts from the experts. Second, while Griffin did include his personal response to the article, he did not connect it to our world or class. This article is very relevant to what we are learning in Forensics class and it would have been interesting for him to include his take on that.
Overall, I found both the article and Griffin’s review of it very interesting. We have learned about a lot of famous psychopath killers in the criminal world, but Charles Manson was not one I was very familiar with.

In this current event article, Griffin Garbarini was able to accurately summarize the article, “Charles Manson Dead at 83.” This article was mostly about the life of Charles Manson (famous psychopath) who was responsible for several killings of celebrities. Griffin Garbarini did a good job touching upon the important point of this article, describing how while in prison for more than 40 years on multiple life sentences, he was denied the possibility of parole 12 times. In addition to this, Griffin Garbarini was able to talk about the relevance of this article how Charles Manson was responsible for nine murderous attacks and the death of seven innocent people. This is a very important issue in this world today. A last thing Griffin Garbarini did well, was accurately criticize what the author could have done to make the article better. I agree with Griffin Garbarini and saying that the article was too vague and he could have summed up the important points better and included more detail.
Although Griffin Garbarini did a good job addressing the main points, I think he could have gave more details in his summary. Another thing Griffin Garbarini could have done was improve his grammar and format of paper. One last thing that Griffin Garbarini could have worked on was add additional information on the topic, although he did a good job summarizing it, I had to go back into the article to clear up any questions I had about the article Other than this he did a really good job summarizing the article.
One thing I found impressed from reading this article and review was that he was America’s most notorious psychopathic cult leaders and murders and was a true menace to society and that Charles Manson cases, forensics was not used to prove that the Manson was responsible for these deaths

In Griffin Garbarini's review of the article "Charles Manson Dead 83" from Forensics Magazine, he does a great job summarizing the Charles Manson's life. He also did a good job going over Manson and his killings during the 1960's and 70's. He did a good job going over the forensics involved with the investigations after Manson was arrested.

Although I liked the review, Griffin could have used more quotes from experts on Manson, or the forensic part of the investigation, as well as relate this story to real life, in today's world.

Overall I really enjoyed reading Charles Manson's story when reading Griffin's current event article and happy police were able to catch him when they did.

I read Griffin’s summary of the article “Charles Manson Dead at 83.” Griffin incorporated a really good description of who Charles Manson was and his significance to America in the 70s. The inclusion of Charles Manson’s “family” and what that entailed was also very important information to include for the second hand reader, and those who were not familiar with Charles Manson. I also thought Griffin did a good job in explaining how although forensics was not used in his arrest, the overall case is very important and significant to the forensic community.
I think to improve the article Griffin could have included some direct quotes from the article. I also think including why the case is so significant to the forensic community also would have improved the summary.
Overall I learned a lot about Charles Manson that I hadn’t already known. Because I was not familiar with Charles Manson and his history i feel I really benefited from reading Griffin’s review.

For the current event, I read the article "Charles Manson Dead at 83" that Griffin reviewed. I thought that Griffin did a great job explaining that life that Charles Manson led. He also was very descriptive throughout the whole review which helped picture the whole thing in my head. Another thing that Griffin did well on and so did the article, was describing the killings that he committed during his time and the crimes that he was found guilty of. Griffin did a great job incorporating his own opinion in the matter which was good because it is always nice to have another opinion besides that authors.
I thought that Griffin did an amazing review, there were just some little things that I think he could have done better on. While describing the conviction of Charles, I thought that he could have connected it to some of the online cases we did because it talked about the evidence and all of the things that we went over. I also thought that he could have back his points up with more evidence while reviewing.
While reading the article I got to learn more about a person that I did not know a lot of. All I knew before this was that he killed multiple people but I thought that the article and the review described the killings detailed and that allowed me to learn more information.

In Griffin’s review of the article “Charles Manson Dead at 83,” he discusses the death of notorious murderer Charles Manson and his crimes. I think that Griffin did a good job in summarizing the article so that his review would be better understood. I also think that Griffin did a good job of doing further research so that he could further understand the case being discussed and include the information he found so that the reader could also fully understand the case. Finally, I think that Griffin’s review was very organized and well planned so that the reader was not confused by his review of the article.
I think to further improve his review, Griffin could have included more information on the forensic science involved in this case and how it applies to what we are learning in class. I also think that if he had included some information on the public’s reaction to Manson’s conviction as well as his death, the reader would have a better understanding of the case and its importance.
While most people know who Charles Manson is and the crime he committed, it was interesting to learn about the reactions people had after his death and how this case still affects the forensic and crime community today.

Augustine, Seth. “Charles Manson Dead at 83.” Forensic Magazine, 20 Nov. 2017, www.forensicmag.com/news/2017/11/charles-manson-dead-83.

Griffin Summarized the article “Charles Manson Dead at 83” This article was about the life and the death of Charles Manson the serial killer. Griffin does a great job telling the reader about Manson’s life and what he did. He also does a great job detailing how forensics was not used in the case that would eventually catch Manson. He also does a great job telling the reader what crimes Manson was found guilty of.
Griffin could have used some more quotes in the article to help keep the reader engaged while reading. He also should have connected it to the world we live in today and how it has helped changed Forensic science over the years.
Overall Griffin’s review was excellent. Because I was not very educated on the crimes of Charles Manson I was able to learn a lot by reading the review.

Griffin Garbarini reviews "Charles Manson Dead at 83", In doing so he paints a vivid image of the Manson Family and their extortion and murders in the 60's including those of Sharon Tate), interestingly enough this article along with Griffin's review gave me (someone who is well aware of Charles Manson) a forensic perception of the case. The review read more like a case study than a Wikipedia article of the Manson family and the atrocities committed by them.
And all though this case and article were super interesting, the review could have incorporated quotes, not to say there weren't any quotes but it seems as if Griffin used the most vague ones.

Augustine, Seth. “Charles Manson Dead at 83.” Forensic Magazine, 20 Nov. 2017, www.forensicmag.com/news/2017/11/charles-manson-dead-83.

Griffin did a good job with his review on the article “charles Manson Dead at 83.” The details Griffin gave provided readers with an understanding of Manson, his cult, and their motives. Griffin’s explanation of Manson’s sentencing and trials further connected the case to forensics and the content we talk about in class. Griffin’s explanation of the killings left little for the imagination and was well written.
Griffin’s article was interesting, but not relevant to forensic science so he could have chosen a better article to review. Griffin’s review also could have been improved by direct quotes.
I learned a lot from Griffin’s review about a famous psychopath and cult leader that I did not previously know about.

Augustine, Seth. “Charles Manson Dead at 83.” Forensic Magazine, 20 Nov. 2017, www.forensicmag.com/news/2017/11/charles-manson-dead-83.
Griffin wrote an excellent response to the article “Charles Manson Dead at 83” by Seth Augustine. He begins with a succinct and informative summary that provides the reader with all of the necessary information. He is able to effectively and efficiently describe Charles Manson’s death from natural causes and the crimes that he committed during the 60s and 70s. I love that Griffin wrote an explanation to address the lack of forensic science in this article. It made his current event response make more sense and addressed the fact that it wasn’t exactly related to forensics but still had a notable influence on the forensic and crime communities. I also agree with Griffin that the author should have included more information on how Manson’s death will affect society. His brutal crimes were shocking and horrific, and he is a well-known notorious figure, so his passing must have had an impact on a number of people.
Although Griffin wrote a well-written and thorough current event report, there are two places that she could improve upon. I think that he could have included a quote to help the reader understand the significance of Charles Manson’s death. In this way, Griffin could have included a statement from a credible expert or someone who was greatly impacted by the murders in order to emphasize the importance of Manson’s legacy and his death. Griffin also wrote that “Manson did not think these people were innocent as he believed they were guilty of causing ‘Helter Skelter.’” However, this is incorrect because Manson actually killed these people in order to start Helter Skelter by trying to blame the crimes on African Americans.
After reading Griffin’s response to Augustine’s article, I have learned that Charles Manson, a man responsible for a number of killing sprees, is now dead. I also now have a deeper understanding of Manson’s crimes and his childhood. I will definitely stay updated on any new developments in terms of his accomplices being granted parole.

Griffin did a good job in in analysing the article “ Charles Manson Dead at 83” from the forensic magazine. He was able to give descriptive detail throughout the review, this was a big factor when he went into giving details on the killings Manson was guilty of. This immense detail allowed me to peer into his head, and try to comprehend the mind of a murder. Also his explanation of manson “family” was eye opening to me, looking at the world of cults was very interesting and creepy to read. However his review would have been stronger if he had added some of MAnson’s thoughts on what he did, and why he thought what he did was ok, this would have made the presentation stronger and better to read. If griffin also added surviving “family” members thoughts on the whole ordeal, if he sifted through the supporters and the ones who were in it through fear, it would have added another level of interest to it. This article was particularly interesting to read considering we watched a documentary on another famous murder, Ted Bundy. The article really made me think about how many sick and twisted people there are and how forensic teams are thankfully able to expose their true nature.

Griffin Summarized and explained the article “Charles Manson Dead at 83” this article was about the life and the death of the well knows Charles Manson the serial killer. He did a great job telling the reader about Manson’s life and what he did when explaining. He also does a great job detailing how the use of forensic science was not used in the case that would eventually catch Manson. He also does a great job telling the reader what crimes Manson was found guilty of and was able to entice me to read the actual article.
If felt life Griffin summarized this article very well but he could have used some more quotes in the article to help keep the reader engaged while reading. He also should have connected it to the world we live in today and how it has helped changed Forensic science over the years.
Overall Griffin’s review was excellent. This is because I was not very educated on the crimes that Charles Manson committed but i was able to learn a lot by reading the review and summary of the article.

From Griffins’s review of “Charles Manson Dead at 83”, I felt that I was able to learn many new things that he explained. Griffin incited many great details in his review. For example, Griffin did a good job explaining the background of the story and kept the timeline throughout the review very clear. This made it easy for readers to understand his review. Secondly, Griffin added quotes from the article which gives the reader another incite about what others thought about the case. For example, Griffin used the quote “The “family” would go to homes like the home of famous movie director, Roman Polanski, and kill five victims inside the home and then write “Death to Pigs” and “Healter Skelter” on the wall”. Also, I thought Griffin did a good job on adding his own thoughts and opinions into the review rather than just straight facts.
Although, Griffin could add a few more ideas to his review to make it perfect. First, I think that Griffin should add more about the forensics part of the crime. Along with this, there are parts where Liam can make his point more clear and concise through the review.

Overall, I think Griffin did a good job summarizing the article and adding his own thoughts and opinions. Previously before reading the article, I knew who Charles Manson was but I did not know much about him. Thanks to Griffin and his article review, I now know more about his life and what he did. I found this review interesting and informative because I have never heard of this case and I am happy Griffin brought up this article for his review

Griffin’s review of the article “Charles Manson Dead at 83” was very interesting to read. I liked how Griffin provided a very detailed description of Charles Manson and made sure the reader had a good idea of who the person was. I also liked how he included what Charles point of view was on the topic and how he believed that the people he murdered were guilty of “Helter Skelter”. Also the name of a Beatles song, to which he says made him do it. I think he also did a good job explaining his opinion on the topic and critiquing the review..
Although Griffin explained the article pretty well, I think his review would've been stronger if he added more direct quotes from the article. This brings more facts into the article. I also wish he had reviewed an article on Charles Manson and his murders, because it relates more to Forensics then just his death.
I think this article was actually pretty informative and interesting to read. Now I know more about who Charles Manson is and how his death was significant to society.

Griffin’s review of the article “Charles Manson Dead at 83” was very well written and he did a good job overall. He explained the timeline and backstory of Mason very well and in way that was easy to understand for the reader. I liked that he included his own opinion rather than just stating facts from the article. He also used quotes well in a way that added to the story. I wish that he talked more about the forensic side of his crimes as that would have added to the review. There are also a few points where it was hard to follow so just cleaning it up a bit would help.
Overall Griffin did a good job summarizing the article and I learned a lot about who Charles Manson was and what he did. I found his review informative as I learned a lot about who one of the notorious killers in US history was.

This week, Griffin did a current event on the death of Charles Manson. This article was written by Seth Augustine for the Forensic Magazine. The articles goes in depth about Charles Manson’s past, murders and final days. First, I didn't know that Charles Manson and his cult only killed celebrities. More specifically, I was unaware that Charles Manson killed Sharon Tate, who was in a couple of movies that I watched. I was also surprised me was that the words he wrote in blood on the walls of his victim, were his codewords for a “race war.” I also knew of the words he wrote on the walls, just not what they meant. Finally, I really liked Griffin’s writing style. It was clear and concise. It just flowed very nicely.
This was a really great review, but there were some things Griffin could have added or expanded upon. I thought he could have used some quotes. He did a really amazing job summarizing the article in his own words, but I wish he put in a quote either by the original author, or Charles Manson himself. Lastly, Griffin said this article didn't really focus on the forensic side of Charles Manson or his murders; However I think Griffin could've added some outside information or knowledge about the crimes. However, overall this was a really intersting current event to read.
I really liked this current event because it finalised my knowledge on Charles Manson. About a month ago a TV-Series (American Horror Story) did an episode on Charles Manson for their ‘Cult’ season. It touched on his crimes, but not his past, or current state. This article helped me fill in the gaps.

In Griffin Garbarini's review of the article "Charles Manson Dead 83" from Forensics Magazine, he summarized Charles Manson's life well. He also did a good job going over Manson and his killings during the 1960's and 70's. Finally, he did a good job explaining the investigations after Manson was arrested to the forensics behind it.

Although I liked the review, Griffin could have used more quotes from experts on Manson, or the forensic part of the investigation. He could have also related this story to today's world.

Augustine, Seth. “Charles Manson Dead at 83.” Forensic Magazine, 20 Nov. 2017, www.forensicmag.com/news/2017/11/charles-manson-dead-83.

Griffin Garbarini’s review of the article, “Charles Manson Dead 83” from Forensics Magazine was very well written. First of all, Griffin established the background of the story well. Through his overview about the time period that Charles Manson lived in and a brief description about the crimes Manson had committed, the readers got a very clear idea about the story. Also, Griffin gave a lot of specific details about the “family” described in the article. He included details such as the writings “Death to Pigs” and “Healter Skelter” on the crime scene walls by this group. Lastly, instead of only using the information from this article, Griffin did some outside research in order to provide information about the case’s relation to today’s society for the readers.
Even though this review was greatly written and fascinating to read, there are two areas of possible improvements for Griffin. For example, it would have been very nice if Griffin could include some quotes from the experts on the cases of Charles Manson. He only used quotations for thee writings on the walls but included no other people’s direct sayings about this case. Moreover, it would have been great if he included more details about the investigation details about this case. This may make this article more relevant to what we are learning in classes today.
While reading this article, I was surprised by how far a psychopath got in the sense of killing other people. As “one of America’s most notorious psychopathic cult leaders”, Manson caused a lot of harm on the society and left wounds for many families that would never recover.
