Leon, Melissa. “Jeffrey Epstein's Autopsy More Consistent with Homicidal Strangulation
than Suicide, Dr. Michael Baden Reveals.” Fox News, FOX News Network, 30 Oct.
2019, www.foxnews.com/us/forensic-pathologist-jeffrey-epstein-homicide-suicide.

Written by Melissa Leon, this article reported news from the recent results of Jeffrey Epstein autopsy, a man who was reported to be found dead in his prison cell a couple months ago after committing suicide. Forensic examination of his body showed evidence that shows he died of homicide rather than suicide, but is still an ongoing investigation. Investigators reported that the autopsy revealed, "telltale signs of homicide", such as the fractures on both side of Epsteins larynx and the fracture on his hyoid, both very uncommon fractures from a hanging suicide. The rarity of the fractures is what is so questionable about Epstein death, and is what has caused investigators to look further into his case. Forensic Pathologists reported more evidence that were uncommon in suicidal hangings, such as the hemorrhages in Epstein eyes; something common in homicidal strangulation.

While the author of this article did a good job explaining the evidence that was found in Epstein's autopsy that reveled evidence that conflicted with his death being labeled as a suicide, there wasnt much information on where the case is going from here. There was no mention of a plan for the investigation, but just that it was incomplete. On the other hand, it was very informative and interesting to read about how just small fractures can be found in an autopsy that can completely change the course of a case.

I read ruby’s article for my current event article comment and she wrote about Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein was recently charged for sex trafficking minors and was in jail when he allegedly commited suice, but recent autopsy reports are suggesting that he may have been strangled to death. Ruby discussed this in the following sentence, “Forensic examination of his body showed evidence that shows he died of homicide rather than suicide, but is still an ongoing investigation.” Here she explains that the investigation is ongoing so they cannot confirm anything. However, it does seem like he was killed by the evidence Ruby lays out in later in the paragraph, “Forensic Pathologists reported more evidence that were uncommon in suicidal hangings, such as hemorrhages in Epstein eyes; something common in homicidal strangulation.” It is crazy that evidence suggests that Epstein was murdered because so many people were so quick to say he killed himself. I do not know why people were so quick to rule out homicide, but it was probably because of political ties. Here Ruby also explains why the article failed to prove it was not a suicide, “ While the author of this article did a good job explaining the evidence that was found in Epstein's autopsy that reveled evidence that conflicted with his death being labeled as a suicide.” Ruby does a great job of point out this element of the article because clearly what she was saying is needed for the article to be better.
Ruby wrote a great current event piece, but there is still room for it to improve. In this sentence, “The rarity of the fractures is what is so questionable about Epstein's death, and is what has caused investigators to look further into his case.” she never explains how the fractures were questionable. If she did it would offer more depth into the way the investigators analyzed the body. Another area she would have improved on is in the following sentence, “There was no mention of a plan for the investigation, but just that it was incomplete.” This sentence could use a little more juice to it by adding more words to the sentence.
This article was wonderfully written and I really loved how informative it was. I was fascinated by the topic. The fact that Epstein may have been killed is so crazy. This article will affect me because it shows how important and autopsy is to finding the proper cuase of death even if people believe it was suicide in the start.

Ruby wrote a great review of Melissa Leon’s Fox News article, “Jeffrey Epstein's Autopsy More Consistent with Homicidal Strangulation than Suicide, Dr. Michael Baden Reveals.” In particular, there were three components of Ruby’s piece that I enjoyed. First, I think she chose a very relevant topic. Jeffrey Epstein and his death are definitely at the center of a lot of news reporting at the moment. Second, Ruby skillfully summarized the main points from the Fox News article, and in doing so, she clearly and logically presented the facts regarding the autopsy that point to Epstein having been strangled. I liked that she included specific details about the unusual findings because they legitimized her piece. Third, I enjoyed her critique of the article. Ruby made several valid points about the article and where it fell short.

However, there were two parts of her review that I think should be changed. First, Ruby never spoke to the relevance of this topic. I would have enjoyed her piece a lot more if Ruby had explained why this controversy regarding Epstein’s death matters so much to people. Second, I wish Ruby had given some background about Epstein. Readers who do not have the basic information regarding Epstein and his life are not able to grasp the relevance and importance of this issue.

Prior to reading this review, I knew about Epstein’s mysterious death and the debate regarding whether it was suicide or homocidal strangulation. Through reading Ruby’s piece, I learned about the specific findings from the autopsy which point to homicide, which I found to be quite valuable.

In her review of “Jeffrey Epstein's Autopsy More Consistent with Homicidal Strangulation
than Suicide, Dr. Michael Baden Reveals.” by Melissa Leon, Ruby did many things that impressed me. First, her summary is concise yet still contains all the relevant information, making it simpler for the reader to grasp. Next, Ruby’s criticism was very clear and gave the author specific points to improve upon. Lastly, her summary was very specific, containing scientific details to prove her knowledge of the subject.
Although Ruby did many things well, there are two things in which she could improve upon. First, I wish Ruby would have included some quotes to give the reader an idea of the author’s perspective. Second, she is missing a relevance paragraph to her review which would help link this autopsy to current day problems.
This was a very interesting review and I was surprised to hear how this autopsy revealed so much information about how Epstein died.

Today I am reviewing Ruby’s Review of the article entitled “ Jeffrey Epstein‘s autopsy more consistent with homicidal strangulation than suicide, Dr. Michael Baden reveals” for the current event. The first thing that I thought that Ruby did well was
quote directly from the article. By including direct quotes, she not only demonstrated that she clearly read the article, but she also made very specific references to information. This allowed her discussion of the articles contents to be succinct and clear. The second thing that I thought Ruby did well was explain the various details in context that she mentioned within the story. For example, she explained what specific findings within Epstein’s autopsy made forensic pathologists question the initial autopsy conclusion of suicide by hanging. This helped to avoid confusion and ambiguity for the reader. The final thing that I thought Ruby did well was check her grammar and spelling. There were no run on sentences or apparent grammatical errors that impeded my reading.

The first thing that I think Ruby could have improved on was a little bit more verbose with her explanation. Well she offered a brief summary, her overall review was only two paragraphs long, making me wonder if she really talked about everything that she could’ve talked about. Another thing that I thought Ruby could’ve done better was explained the larger context around Jeffrey Epstein‘s death. She completely failed to mention that he had been accused of running a large scale international sex ring and that he could’ve potential he implicated many powerful people. Without mentioning the controversy surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein, she excluded a rather vital detail that aids in the classification of the autopsy in a larger social context.

There is a lot of public pressure to find the real cause of Epstein’s death, and this recent finding that indicates that he was in fact the victim of a homocide and not suicide will likely fuel the already somewhat prevalent conspiracy theories surrounding the circumstances of his death. I believe that this definitely warrants further investigation as finding the perpetrators of this criminal act should be our immediate priority.

I like how Ruby informed the reader as to how the forensic scientist perform the autopsy. It was and what it was and how she explained the steps the forensic scientist took when performing the autopsy. I also found it interesting how she explained the positive and negative effects of the new treatment that is being researched as the writer of the article did. I also liked how she incorporated current problems when opening their body and how it tells them what happened. Lastly, I thought that she did a really good job incorporating the article into her article, I liked how she incorporated quotes that the Author of the article she read said.

I did not like how she listed facts then talked about a dispute between two forensic scientists and then listed facts again. I felt she could have listed the facts and then talked about the dispute between the scientists regarding the new treatment. Although she did a good job tying the article into current day events and problems, I felt she could have added more to tie in the cause of death to current events or given more examples as to what the cause of death was.

When reading this article I learned lots of new things about major police cases that I didn’t know before. I found that the new treatment that makes it easier to perform an autopsy could potentially be safer. As they still do have to do some more trial runs, I felt that learning this information will stay with me in the future and possibly if this day ever comes deciding to proceed with the procedure that doesn’t require opening the body. Me, being terrified of needles going into my body, I feel that this is information that I will continue to remember and will help me in the future.

Ruby’s summary and analysis of “Jeffrey Epstein’s Autopsy More Consistent with Homicidal Strangulation than Suicide, Dr. Michael Baden Reveals” ” was concise and well written. Firstly, she keeps her summary her summary short and sweet, explaining a general synthesis of the article and moving forward. Secondly, I found it very effective how Ruby chose a very relevant article to today’s political climate, as Jeffrey Epstein’s death has been a popular headline over the past couple of weeks. Lastly, I like how Ruby chose to get specific with her evidence of why Epstein’s suicide appeared more like a homicide.
There are a few things that would have bettered her analysis. Firstly, this topic is very popular in the media and I think if Ruby mentioned that there would have been a good connection there. Secondly, I wish Ruby included more quotes from this article, as I feel they add another layer to a summary.
Though I found this article interesting and well-written, I wish there was more information explaining what the next step is. Where will the investigation progress from here? Though this story has been one I am familiar with, I did not realize Epstein had been reexamined and may have never understood telltales signs that a suicide had been set-up to appear as one.

Ruby’s review of ““Jeffrey Epstein's Autopsy More Consistent with Homicidal Strangulation than Suicide, Dr. Michael Baden Reveals” was both well written and informative. The first positive aspect of her review that I noticed was her criticsm of the article. It was very specific and easy to comprehend. Secondly, her summary was easy to understand without over simplifying information. She included all relavant/important information. Last, it was evident from her summary that she has a good understanding of the topic, as it concluded numerouse specific details.
One thing Ruby could do to improve this review would be to add quotes. This would inlcude the overall flow of the review as well as add credibility to her points. I also think she should have included the context of Jeffrey Epstein’s imprisonment as it is an important piece of the puzzle of the mystery surrounding his death. Without the crucial information of his crimes the controvsery surrounding his death cannot be fully understood.
I enjoyed reading this interesting review because Epstein’s death has been a controversial current event. There are an abundance of conspiracy theories surrounding if/why he was murdered, so I enjoyed reading how forensic science can add credibility (beyond conspiracy theories) to this mystery.

Ruby’s review was intriguing and informative. Firstly, she contextualized her current event right from the start, “Written by Melissa Leon, this article reported news from the recent results of Jeffery Epstein’s autopsy, a man who was reported to be found dead in his prison cell a couple months ago after committing suicide.” This first line provided the necessary background information for those unfamiliar with the case. Secondly, Ruby did a nice job describing the details pertaining to Epstein’s autopsy, such as the “fractures on both sides of his larynx and the fracture on his hyoid.” Finally, Ruby brought up an interesting point in her final paragraph. She observed, “[...] there wasn’t much information on where the case is going from here.” It’s important to challenge ideas when trying to understand a situation, so her valid criticism shows inquisitiveness and strength as a reader.

However, there were some areas Ruby could have improved on. As others have mentioned, while she did contextualize the case, she could have discussed the background of Jeffrey Epstein himself. Who was this man? Why does this case matter so much? With so much debate surrounding Epstein’s death, it’s important to examine why people care about finding a definitive answer. Additionally, Ruby forgot to include a paragraph connecting her article to our own studies. By further exploring the importance of autopsies, and perhaps acknowledging our advancements in the field in recent years, Ruby could have explained the relevance of the case in our understanding of forensics, which would have strengthened her piece as a whole.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Ruby’s review. As we have learned in class, autopsies consistently provide reliable answers. As scientists and investigators place more emphasis on autopsies and their role in determining cause of death, it’ll be interesting to see how this results in new developments in understanding cases later on down the road.

For this week's current event I read Ruby's review of the article," Jeffrey Epstein's Autopsy More Consistent with Homicidal Strangulation
than Suicide, Dr. Michael Baden Reveals." After reading Ruby's review on this article I think she did a great job writing about this article because she wrote a very informative, yet straightforward review. She included details from the article which make the topic easier to understand, and she gave very good criticism to the author of the article she read which is very important.

I really enjoyed reading Ruby's piece but if she added a few more things I think would have really made her review stand out. If Ruby added more direct quotes from the reading I think her piece would have gone above and beyond. I also think that she should have connected this story to what we have learned in class because we have discusses and learned about autopsies.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading the review that Ruby wrote, it was very well written and interesting to read. While the topic is controversial, Ruby handled the topic very well and wrote a very informative review.

The review Ruby Howell performed on the article: “Jeffrey Epstein's Autopsy More Consistent with Homicidal Strangulation than Suicide, Dr. Michael Baden Reveals.” was very interesting and informative. She discusses the results of a recent autopsy done on a man named Jeffrey Epstein who allegedly commited suicide. I like how she was straightforward with the information. When she stated “Investigators reported that the autopsy revealed, "telltale signs of homicide", such as the fractures on both side of Epsteins larynx and the fracture on his hyoid, both very uncommon fractures from a hanging suicide” it was a good way to put the information because it was a bunch of information packed into one sentence. I also appreciate how she was able to captivate the reader by using captivating words in the beginning like suicide, and autopsy. She did a good job stating things in her article that could of been improved and fixed in the future.
One thing Ruby could improve on is explaining how and why she chose the article. She did not provide any reasoning behind her decision to write about it. Ruby’s Analysis was also very short and didn't provide the detail she needed to do the article justice.. She could provide a longer analysis that makes the reader feel she has read the full article and knows what it is about. She also did not quote the author, further questioning her ability. To improve, Ruby could spend more time talking about the details explained as well as making more connections as to why she chose the article and insert quotes to deepen her analysis.
.I chose this article because it was very interesting and I enjoy reading things like this. I also wanted to see Ruby’s writing style as I have never looked at one of her reviews before. By reading this article I learned about the inconsistencies between Jeffrey Epstein's alleged cause of death, and his actual wounds. It will change my perception because now I have another piece of knowledge that I can use.

After reading Rubys pieces by Melissa Leon on Jefferey Epstein’s Death and autopsy I was very intrigued by the topic she has chosen. I enjoyed how Rubys easily summarized Epstein’s death and his alleged suicide. Her first paragraph did an excellent job in summarizing the events. In addition, I liked the topic that Ruby chose, as a controversial topic it was interesting to see what this article had to say and what evidence was given. Lastly, I liked how she included her own opinion about how the article failed to prove it was not suicide. This just added to her claim more and made the readers more interested in what she had to say.
In this review, Ruby could have improved on adding a little more background to what happened with Jeffery Epstein and who he was. In addition, I think she could have improved on going more into depth about the rich controversy around Epstein’s death as it is so particularly interesting
After reading this review I was able to learn more about Epstein’s death and the controversy surrounding it. In addition to the evidence found in his official autopsy which was very interesting.
