'America's Most Wanted' Murder Case To Be Investigated By Pioneering UK Forensic Scientist

Dr John Bond, Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Leicester Forensic Research Centre and Scientific Support Manager at Northamptonshire Police, has created a way to visualize fingerprints even after the fingerprint itself has been removed from a surface. He has also developed a method to detect detailed fingerprints off of metal surfaces that have undergone high heat and explosions. Even more amazingly, Dr Bond recently worked with a US police force to find latent prints on bullets fired almost a decade ago. His technique can also be used to find fingerprints on bombs that have been exploded. It is currently being used in Afghanistan to help find people who set up road-side bombs. With this, Dr. Bond has revolutionized the detection of fingerprints.

This article seems very informative and precise. I liked how you quickly summed up the article. I also liked how u said multiple examples of what Dr. Bond is doing. I like how this man has been able to change the way that fingerprints are looked upon. There only a few things i would have changed with this critique. I would have made the examples a little more specific and made one of the processes more in depth. And i would have posted the original article along with the summary. From this article i learned that the processes of tracking people down for crimes is becoming more in depth and tougher to get around. The processes are becoming extremely advanced and being able to find the perpetrators is becoming easier with these new ways.

I thought this was a very interesting article. The way it is summerized, and the way multiple examples of how Dr. Bond's findings are presented. Also, the way possible fields of use today are shown is another good aspect of the article. It would be helpfull if their was some explination of how the fingerprint method actually works. Some scientific knowledge would really add to the article. But other than that it was a well written review, of what sounds to be a revolutionary technique, that will play a large role in the future of forensic science.

The fact that Dr. Bond has been able to change the analysis of fingerprints is amazing. The summarization of this article is very precise and informative. If one of the processes for identifying fingerprints were to go into more detail, I think this summary would be a lot better. The improvements in the forensic study in the UK has made great advances in recent times and this discovery for fingerprint analysis is just another great discovery. All of these new findings are contributing to the discovery of criminals faster and more effectively.

Very good summary, Austin. It was easy to read and didn't lose my attention. You described all the surfaces but not how he found them which wuld have helped, but overall still a good atricle summary. It was very interesting finding out they could catched someone who planted a roadside bomb with fingerprints.
